Some instructions for flying the NAMC YS-11
===========================================

Keyboard controls:
"Shift+E" to open passenger door, after the door is open, press "2" to deploy air stairs. Note: do not press any keys, switch views etc. in between, or it won't work.

Use spoiler key to extend/retract wing landing lights.

Taxiing:

Keep condition levers slightly below "low idle" (on the default King Air panel). This helps to keep the speed low during taxi. Disengage parking brake, and apply throttle as necessary to start taxi. Keep your taxiing speed below 15 kts, slow down for tight turns.

Takeoff:

Move prop and condition levers to the top position before take off. Normal flap for takeoff is 10 degrees (1 notch). Set some positive trim. Rotate at around 90-100 KIAS, depending on the aircraft weight. Retract landing gear before reaching 135 KIAS. Retrach wing landing lights before reaching 165 KIAS. Maximum takeoff weight is 54013 lbs.

Cruise:

Economical cruise is at 20'000 feet, at 244 KTAS.

Airspeed limitations (KIAS):

20'000 ft 215
18'000 ft 224
16'000 ft 233
13'600 ft 244

Approach and landing:

Extend landing gear when speed is no more than 209 KIAS.
Deploy wing landing lights when speed drops below 165 KIAS.
Normal approach flap is 20 degrees (alternatively 10 degrees).
Available flap positions are: 0-10-15-20-25-35.
Deploy flaps according to the speed table:

Flap 10 200 KIAS
Flap 20 165 KIAS
Flap 35 136 KIAS

Fly the final approach around 120-100 KIAS, aim for the touchdown at around 90 KIAS. Landing flap is normally 35 degrees, alternatively 25 or 20 degrees.

After exiting the runway, remember to set the the prop and condition levers to taxi positions (see above).

Shutdown:

Engage parking brake and pull left engine condition lever to "cut off" and move left engine prop lever to "feather". This will make the prop stop faster. Move right engine prop lever to the top prior to cutting right engine off. This is to simulate the fact that usually left prop is stopped faster to allow passengers to exit the plane more quickly.
